Understanding the Bible: An Independent Baptist Commentary by Dr. David Sorenson of Northstar Ministries is now available for SwordSearcher Bible Software!

StudyLamp Software and Northstar Ministries have worked together to bring you the third edition of Dr. Sorenson's complete Bible commentary in SwordSearcher format. Like any other commentary in SwordSearcher, the UTB module is 100% searchable and linked right in the Bible margin.

Understanding the Bible has one purpose: to help the reader understand the Word of God. It seeks to accomplish what Nehemiah wrote, "So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading" (Nehemiah 8:8).This work endeavors to give the sense of any given passage of Scripture and help the reader to understand the reading.

Using Proximity Search to find words near each other

You're sure you've seen a few words on the same page in your printed Bible, but you just can't remember exactly where. A typical Bible verse search or concordance isn't going to help, because those tools only look at words on a verse-by-verse basis. That's when you use the Proximity Search. Proximity search finds words near each other even when they are separated by verse.

Using the Find Related Verses tool to discover cross-references

Although SwordSearcher already includes an excellent set of cross-references, the value of personally discovering your own cross-references during a targeted study can't be over stated.
